Conversation, medical history and examination (3D X-ray if needed) – planning comes first, treatment follows. A purely informational conversation without an examination is free of charge; examination and treatment and cost plan are billed according to the GOZ (the German scale of dental fees).
Costs
Before every treatment, you receive a written treatment and cost plan showing your own contribution; patients with statutory and private health insurance are treated equally.

As a general rule: allow a little extra time for your first appointment. At this first visit, we get to know one another, take your medical history, and build up a comprehensive picture of your oral health. This foundation is important so that we can look after you well in future, in a way that is tailored to your situation. It is therefore worth not squeezing this first appointment in between two other commitments.
If you have previously been cared for at another practice, it is helpful to bring along any earlier findings or X-rays, if you have them. This can spare you unnecessary repeat examinations and gives us a more complete picture. However, you do not have to arrange this yourself – simply talk to us, and we will find a practical solution together.

When booking, feel free to let us know what it is about – for example a check-up, a professional dental cleaning, or specific symptoms. This allows us to schedule enough time for you from the outset.
If you are ever unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please let us know in good time. This allows us to offer the freed-up slot to other patients who are, in turn, waiting for an appointment. A brief cancellation helps keep the practice running smoothly for everyone.
To make sure regular preventive care does not get lost in everyday life, we use a recall system. This means that, once the agreed interval until your next check-up or dental cleaning is reached, we actively remind you of your next appointment. This means you do not have to remember yourself when the next preventive visit is due, and regular visits remain reliably part of your health routine.
It is precisely this continuity that can contribute to stable oral health in the long term. Coming for regular check-ups gives us the chance to notice changes early and respond to them together with you. Our recall system is our way of making this regularity as convenient as possible for you.
Patients with statutory insurance, private insurance and emergencies
Patients with both statutory and private health insurance are warmly welcome at our practice. Regardless of the type of insurance you have, you receive attentive, respectful care from us. Your insurance determines certain billing arrangements and reimbursements, but not the care and attention with which we treat you.
As a patient with statutory health insurance, you are entitled to the services of standard care. Beyond this, there are services that go beyond the scope of statutory cover – for example, certain higher-quality materials or additional preventive options. If such options are relevant for you, we will explain the difference clearly, and you can decide in your own time what is right for you. Choosing one of these options is never a condition for good care.
We advise privately insured patients and those with supplementary dental insurance individually on treatment options and the relevant billing arrangements. Before more extensive treatments, we prepare a clear, itemised statement for you, which you can, if needed, discuss with your insurer. This way, you always have a clear basis for your decisions.
Acute toothache, a broken tooth corner or swelling usually happen at the most inconvenient moment. If you are a patient of our practice and would like to come to us with acute symptoms, please call us during our opening hours – we do our best to fit urgent cases in as promptly as possible. Briefly describe your symptoms to the team over the phone, so that we can assess how urgent it is.
Outside our opening hours – that is, at weekends, on public holidays and at night – the emergency dental service is the right point of contact. It is organised regionally and is responsible for treating acute cases outside normal opening hours. In a life-threatening emergency, such as a severe allergic reaction or significant swelling with breathing difficulties, please call the emergency number 112 without delay.
Costs and Insurance
The question of cost concerns many patients – and rightly so, because dental treatment should remain plannable and easy to follow. We place great importance on informing you openly and clearly about the costs you can expect before more extensive treatment begins. No one should be caught out by a bill. Which services your health insurer or insurance covers depends on the type of treatment and your insurance status.
The cost of dental treatment depends on the type and scope of the service and is billed for patients with statutory health insurance under the Assessment Scale for Dental Services (BEMA), or, for individual and private dental services, under the German Dental Fee Schedule (GOZ). Standard care services are covered by the statutory health insurer; for further treatment, such as certain types of dental prosthetics, an out-of-pocket share often applies. This is where the dental bonus booklet (Bonusheft) comes in: anyone who has their annual check-ups documented without gaps can receive an increased fixed subsidy for dental prosthetics. Privately insured patients and those with supplementary dental insurance are reimbursed in full or in part depending on their policy. For more extensive treatment, we prepare a treatment and cost plan for you in advance, which you can discuss with your health insurer. We recommend clarifying reimbursement questions in good time before treatment begins.
For larger undertakings – such as dental prosthetics or more extensive restorations – we draw up a treatment and cost plan for you. This sets out which treatment is planned and what costs to expect. You submit the plan to your statutory health insurer, which approves the fixed subsidy, or to your private insurer. This way, you know before treatment begins what share you will need to cover, and you can decide calmly.
